Filipino fraternity inducts new officers
The Filipino Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity inducted their new office-bearers for the year 2013 this week in Riyadh.
Alpha Kappa Rho is an international fraternity that provides humanitarian services. It was founded in the Philippines in 1973 at the University of Santos Tomas and has been expanding throughout the world since then.
As selected leaders, the new office-bearers are expected to inspire their class and act as the unifying force for all members while taking into account their diverse culture, said Antonio Villafuerte, assistant to the regional Labor

1st President’s Cup welcomes 5’8 below and 38 above
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Despite the unstable weather condition in Riyadh, FAPS (Filipino Athletes and Performers Society) was able to successfully initiate the opening ceremony of the 1st President’s Cup 2013 Basketball Tournament and finally welcomed the 12 teams, six coming from 5’8 below and six from 38 above held at Al Yamama Sports Center on May 10, 2013 here.

"I LOVE ALPHA KAPPA RHO!" this are the words that I hated to hear and shout before, but now are the words that I love to hear and shout more and more. I am Khoedy, a member of Alpha Kappa Rho "Sigma Kappa Chapter" Surigao City since 2006. I joined the fraternity when I was in College in Saint Paul University Surigao. You may wonder why I hate to hear and shout the words "I love Alpha Kappa Rho". Knowing the fact that I am a member of the brotherhood. That was before, when people had bad ideas about fraternity or brotherhood. Most of them said that "THERE IS NO BENIFIT AND IT WILL JUST HURT YOU FOR NOTHING", ang masakit yung iba ang tingin sa fraternity ay "GULO". I can't blame them for they are entitled to their own opinion. "Labas na ako doon, pero tingin ko naman ay tama din sila sa ibang bagay."

HISTORY
ALPHA KAPPA RHO CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY
On August 8, 1973, the celebration of the Feast Day of St. Dominic, patron saint of the University of Santo Thomas, sixteen young, all male, energetic and ambitious freshmen and sophomore students of this university, sharing the same interest, dreams and ambitions, form their own kind of fraternal organization – the Alpha Kappa Rho Fraternity. This was during the tumultuous early years of martial rule in the Philippines. However the time was then, these young men, guided by the almighty, bonded themselves together as one.
There was a farmer who had a horse and a goat…..One day, the horse became ill and he called the veterinarian, who said: - Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I’ll come back on the 3rd day and if he’s not better, we’re going to have to put him down.
Nearby, the goat listened closely to their conversation. The next day, they gave him the medicine and left. The goat approached the horse and said: - Be strong, my friend.
Get up or else they’re going to put you to sleep!
