Filipino fraternity inducts new officers

The Filipino Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity inducted their new office-bearers for the year 2013 this week in Riyadh.
Alpha Kappa Rho is an international fraternity that provides humanitarian services. It was founded in the Philippines in 1973 at the University of Santos Tomas and has been expanding throughout the world since then.
As selected leaders, the new office-bearers are expected to inspire their class and act as the unifying force for all members while taking into account their diverse culture, said Antonio Villafuerte, assistant to the regional Labor

Attaché at the Philippines Embassy.

The office-bearers are expected to take the lead in the right path to good governance.
“What matters is not the rank and title of your position. What counts is the opportunity to serve, make a positive difference and show that you are deserving of the position entrusted to you,” said Villafuerte in his speech.
Villafuerte said, “What matters is not being senior in rank and the privilege that this traditionally carries with it, but the strength of your character as a virtuous officer.”
In their acceptance speech, the officials said they would maintain their strong character and moral values that rest upon pillars of respect to the best of their ability. They underlined their resolve to carry out their duties and responsibilities voluntarily and without reservations.
